Inspiration abounds

26 May

Railex is once again over and we can all sit back and reflect. It is a privilege to be part of the Risborough & District MRC, organisers of Railex and as such able to enjoy the show and camaraderie for free. It is always good to catch up with friends at shows and this year was no exception with the MMRS, Bradfield and Alloa layout crews, Chris N and various traders.

On top of this, the show provides much in the way inspiration and ideas for my own projects, both now in terms of Kirkmellington but also as little seeds for the future.

Here are a few photos of the layouts:

Factory Lane Sidings

The End of the Line

I was unable to attend the show Saturday as a friend was married in London at 3pm. A highlight of the day however was an hour seeing the sights on board this gem:

Thanks for posting the layout pictures and views on the exhibition. Maybe one to think about visiting!

Definitely worth considering John. Not particularly hard to reach by road, but just a long way away! We noticed signs for a preservation site at Quainton fairly close by. I know nothing about it, but you could perhaps combine visiting the two.

We also have the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway here (around 6 ,miles west of Aylesbury), home to the last class 17 Clayton.

I really wanted to go this year but sadly other commitments too priority on this weekend. All I ever hear about this show is that it really is one of the best. Pleased to hear it went well this year too.

The exhibition seems to generate plenty of positive comments, both from the visiting public and the exhibitors & traders who attend and is certainly enjoyable for us within the club. Initial reports are that visitors are up year on year. Planning already underway for 2015 ( and beyond).

Good to meet the man behind the power tool username!

That’s Alloa back up the road and in the clubroom. Show of the year for me, without a shadow of a doubt, EM North will have to be damn good if it’s going to top that. Thanks on behalf of the ScRSG, we all really enjoyed it.

It was great to meet the Alloa team and see the layout again, its always a crowd pleaser and lost out by the narrowest margin as best in show. Glad you enjoyed the weekend.

      See you in Perth!

It was indeed a good show, one of the best in the country I would suggest. I have put some photos on my blog too as I went along yesterday. Well done to all involved.
