2014, a review. 2015, a preview.

31 Dec

Well, what a busy year 2014 has been, lots of excitement and much learnt along the way.

some of the highlights:

Kirkmellingtons debut show, RISEX by Risborough & District MRC.

Completion of the main parts of the layout – the buildings, scenery and bespoke backscene.

Addition of the fine detail and some new skills – static grass, solid water, boundary fencing, DAS clay.

Attendance at my first specialist finescale show, Expo EM north

Creation of my first working 4mm scale brass wagon kit, the Hudson Tipper

Attendance at the first of the new look and milestone 50th Rochdale Model Railway exhibition.

In addition I have been lucky enough to attend some of the country’s finest exhibitions with fellow Rochdale members, Perth, Railex, Kendal, Liverpool (Crosby). With each is the camaraderie with the host clubs, various friends and fellow modellers and of course the paying public.

So how do we build on that for 2015.
Well I need to complete a few projects and finish detailing and weathering my rolling stock fleet. My jobs list stands at:
Complete the rake of 6 Hudson tippers.
Renumber, detail and weather the DMU fleet.
Get DCC sound progressed and tested across the second fleet ( I have duplicates of locos & DMU)
Build the brass colliery headstock kit
Build a brass loco kit (88DS or post war Sentinel 100HP)
Finish off my O gauge brass wagon kits
Update the blog pages with more of this years progress (buildings, stock etc)

There are no exhibitions planned for Kirkmellington in 2015 for reasons which will become clear in 9 or 10 weeks time but we will be on the road again in early 2016.

In the meantime, all that remains is to wish you all a happy new year and happy modelling.
