Fleet expansion

9 Sep

The last few weeks have seen the expansion of our fleet, to service both Kirkmellington and Harkness.

A variety of sources have provided us with the following:

EBay gave us these gems. A Judith Edge kit and a DJH kit. Both in good running condition but needing a minute amount of TLC.

A commission build with Karl Crowther has produced a J79 from the Connoisseur Kit. This features a compensated chassis. We are very excited and await delivery to us.

Finally, DJ Models have finally delivered the J94 / Austerity. Despite reservations about the chassis construction, I have invested in a couple of these and thankfully, a quick (and currently crude) conversion to EM has taken place successfully. I now need to add spacers and glue to ensure reliability but they are very nice models and certainly run well.

How have you found the DJM austerities? I am still waiting for the one I have ordered

They are good models, an improvement over the Hornby version. They are very light but ran smoothly, seem well constructed and detailed and will be easy to fit DCC to.

I am happy with them and for the price paid.

Thats good to hear, I thought Albion Yard’s review sounded fair. Have you seen RT models etch he is doing for them? I have emailed RT about it but not heard anything back yet, should sort out all the chunkier bits. I ordered the normal bunker early BR version, going to review it then NCB it to the nines. Oly
