Harkness (EM gauge)

The Layout:

The Belford Budle and Harkness Railway was a private light railway joining the LNER East Coast Mainline at Belford to the small harbour at Harkness on Budle bay. It is based on the North Sunderland Railway which ran between Chathill and Seahouses. We run two periods, 1939 (LNER), 1949 (early British Railways) and will add a third 1959 (BR) in due course, all with representative locos and stock.

Principal outbound traffic is fish (herring in barrels), agricultural produce and stone from the nearby quarry. Passenger traffic and post / parcels / newspapers are also conveyed by a mix of mainline and private owner carriages. Coal and oil are also brought in for local merchants.

Hi. Thanks for taking time to speak to me today at Spaulding, albeit mainly rambling on my part. I voted yours as best layout because it seems easy to ‘read’ and see the possibilities, operationwise, it looks a treat and EM really does it justice. Mike
